Chief Technical Officer: Projects
Mr. Jie Liu was appointed Deputy General Manager of Wesizwe Platinum Limited in March 2022. He holds a degree in Mining Engineering from the Southwest University of Science and Technology in China and brings nearly two decades of hands-on experience in the global mining industry.
Mr. Liu began his career with Jinchuan Group in 2005, where he quickly rose through the ranks, taking on key production and operational leadership roles. He spent over a decade at Jinchuan’s Third Mining Division, where he was instrumental in leading underground operations and enhancing productivity. His international experience includes serving as Deputy General Manager at Chibuluma Copper Mine in Zambia for four years, during which he also provided oversight at the Munali Nickel Mine, contributing to cross-border operational improvements.
Since joining Wesizwe, Mr. Liu has played a pivotal role in accelerating project execution and operational readiness at the Bakubung Platinum Mine. His work has focused on achieving design capacity, streamlining mine development, and embedding principles of safety, efficiency, and environmental responsibility. He is committed to helping build Bakubung into a world-class mining operation, aligned with international standards and best practices.
