Executive Head: Engineering, IT, and Procurement
Mr. Guoqing Zhang was appointed as Executive Head: Engineering, IT, and Procurement at Wesizwe Platinum Limited in August 2025.
He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Automation from Taiyuan University of Technology and an Intermediate Professional Title in Industrial Automation and Instrumentation from the Department of Human Resources and Social Security of Gansu Province.
Before joining Wesizwe, Mr. Zhang spent nearly two decades at Jinchuan Group Co., Ltd, one of China’s largest non-ferrous metal mining and smelting enterprises. He began his career in 2006 as an Electrical Technician at the Longshou Mine and progressed through various leadership roles including Deputy Director of the Hoisting Section and later Party Branch Secretary at Longshou Mine (renamed Jinchuan Group Nickel & Cobalt Co., Ltd. in 2024).
During his tenure, he led initiatives in equipment management, production operations, safety supervision, and R&D related to hoisting and electrical systems. He also oversaw the implementation of the Triple Certification System (ISO 9001/14001/OHSAS 18001) and quality control programs.
At Wesizwe, Mr. Zhang oversees the Engineering, IT, and Procurement Departments and provides strategic support to the management of concentrator equipment and related administrative functions. His extensive technical and leadership background supports Wesizwe’s commitment to operational excellence and the ongoing ramp-up of the Bakubung Platinum Mine.
